The NSW State Government has declared the whole area the Waterloo Housing Estate a State Significant Precinct.

This is the beginning of a massive plan to re develop the suburb starting with a masterplan and consultation process.

The result will be a massive increase in housing density in the local area, which includes the development of the airspace above the proposed Waterloo Metro Railway Station.

We want to hear what local residents in Waterloo and Redfern have to say.

Redfern Labor invites you to attend a public forum to discuss the biggest change ever seen in our neighbourhood.

A round circle community town hall style meeting, the event will start with four community representatives talking about their opinion of the redevelopment:

  • Geoff Turnbull – Redwatch with background on the history and context of Waterloo Housing Estate and the latest development.
  • Richard Weeks - Chair of the Waterloo Public Housing Action Group will outline a tenant’s perspective
  • Millie Ingram -  speaking about the local indigenous community’s links to Redfern/Waterloo
  • Joel Spring – from the architectural practice Future Method who is initiating an alternative community based master plan

Local and State ALP representatives will be present at the meeting to both listen and participate in the discussion.
