FACS Statement - For the record: Waterloo redevelopment - 8 Sep 2017

Following reports in various media regarding people being moved out of Waterloo. FACS head Michael Coutts-Trotter issued the following statement on 8 September 2017.

Recent media coverage surrounding the Waterloo redevelopment has been inaccurate and deserves a response.

The redevelopment of Waterloo will deliver more and better social housing.

Not a single resident will be forced to permanently leave Waterloo.

The redevelopment will be staged over 15-20 years, and all social housing residents who are temporarily moved have a right to return to Waterloo.

Over the past two years FACS has held extensive consultation with over 2,000 people including residents, the broader community and non-government organisations in Waterloo.

We will continue to be open and transparent in our communication and encourage residents to participate and tell us their thoughts about their future community.
