Snap Waterloo Metro Integrated Station Development Consultation – REDWatch Thursday 18th June 6pm

The John Holland / Mirvac joint venture (JV) responsible for the Waterloo Integrated Station Development, which includes both the Metro station and the over station development, is doing a pre-lodgement consultation. REDWatch is holding a special on-line meeting so that the JV can present its proposal to the community and get feedback.

John Holland will deliver the Waterloo metro station and a joint venture between John Holland and Mirvac to deliver the Waterloo integrated station development, including the buildings above and next to the station.

During June 2020, the joint venture is looking for feedback on building designs, public art and landscape, facilities or services, construction impacts, public domain, car parking and retail spaces. The JV will present to a number of groups over the next week or two. You can see the JV’s flyer for the consultation - Have your say Waterloo integrated station development June 2020.

It is important to realise that the JV is working on the final development application (DA) design of the buildings that will be built. This will look very different from the images seen during the earlier public exhibition of the Waterloo Metro State Significant Precinct rezoning proposal in mid-2019.

After the last exhibitions, there were a number of changes made to the planning controls and the JV was selected as the developer. As a result the open space increased and more commercial office space is guaranteed with less parking on site. The controls also encouraged some of the height from the towers to be spread over the rest of the site. REDWatch has asked the JV to explain the changes that have been made so the community can understand the impact.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to find out what the JV is proposing and to have your say before it gets set in concrete. You can join us for the online REDWatch meeting via PC or smartphone. This consultation is much shorter than even the rezoning pre-lodgement exhibition, which is not good practice for engagement with the surrounding Waterloo Estate. Please promote this meeting using this poster so we can get the word out - REDWatch Poster for June 18 2020 Waterloo Metro Station and Over station Development Meeting.

After the Development Application (DA) is finalised by the JV it will be submitted to the Department of Planning Industry and Environment for a formal exhibition before final approvals and conditions are made.
