REDWatch Comment:
There is concern that limiting Open Space monitoring from 9pm to 5pm will miss early morning and late afternoon usages of open space. We are heading into winter so there is little time for the community use that occurs during the long summer evenings. It is also important when looking at open space that this also looks at often hidden night time uses of open this space. Open space studies need to look at both social and anti-social uses of space for crime prevention through design planning. They also need to factor in the role that space plays in community activities like Summer on the Green, Family and Culture Day, Pet Day etc.
